Ernst & Young Recognizes Our Passion

Our company thrives because of our entrepreneurial spirit. As we complete fifteen busy years in the film and TV production industry, our team continues to hire, train and promote people who exemplify our passion for excellence and our commitment to growing the business in smart, sustainable ways that support our staff, our clients and our community. Recently, we were formally recognized by Ernst & Young for the talent, tenacity and resiliency of our founders.

Vancouver Film Studios—a successful film and TV studio facility business and a subsidiary of The McLean Group of Companies—proudly announces that executive leadership, brothers Jason and Sacha McLean have both graciously earned EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™.

Entrepreneur of the Year™ is the only truly globally recognized business awards program. This award acknowledges exceptional entrepreneurs with demonstrated achievements in innovation and financial performance. Plus a strong personal commitment to business and to community.

The panel of judges noted that Jason and Sacha McLean were an obvious choice for this year’s award. They were top entrepreneurs in the Entertainment and Hospitality category of Canada’s Pacific region. EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ was presented in Vancouver during November.

“Jason and I would never be standing here today without the constant support and guidance of two of the most incredible parents two brothers could hope to have,” said Vice-Chairman Sacha McLean. “Mom and Dad, you raised us right with a lot of love, you gave us great opportunities and, most importantly, you allowed us the room to make mistakes and develop as leaders.”

Sacha came on board in 1996, taking over his ailing father’s production rental business and transforming it into the thriving sustainable film and television enterprise it is today. Jason joined the family business in 2002. He secured sustainable contracts and longterm financing for the multifaceted business. Working together, they inspire a growing team of passionate business leaders who aren’t afraid to take on projects that strengthen business and support community.

“If we’ve done one thing right, it’s surrounding ourselves with dedicated, passionate and entrepreneurial people,” said Chief Executive Officer Jason McLean. “We are so grateful to them and share with them this honour.”

For more than 20 years, Ernst & Young has celebrated Canadian entrepreneurial achievement. Honoured individuals of past years include Howard Schultz of Starbucks and Pierre Omidyar of eBay. Canada’s past winners include Guy Laliberté of Cirque du Soleil. This year’s Pacific region co-finalists included Charles Chang of Vega and Ho Kim of CAMACC Systems Inc.
